Job Prospects

I’m a little behind on what I am thankful for.

Let me begin by saying that I had a phone interview for a job I’m interested in back in my home state. Therefore, I am thankful for interviews! They are crazy stressful to prepare for and get through but by the end of them, it’s a huge sigh of relief. But then again you have to wait until you hear back on whether you got the job. My interview went pretty well. There were times when I coughed, said um, yeah (once), and made one simple mistake. But for being my second phone interview I think I did a pretty good job. It lasted 45 minutes, which I take as a good sign. There were two interviewers, which was a little intimidating but I quickly got over it. The first question they asked me was what classes I took in college. Caught me totally off guard! But throughout the interview the main interviewer kept saying, “We really like that you have a flexible schedule..” and “It’s appealing to us that you want to move back to Ohio…” and “We really like you” They also said human resources would be in touch with me to fill out a criminal background check, job application, and require a copy of my driving record.
However, I am a little puzzled because I sent them both separate thank you notes yesterday evening and today I got a reply from one of them that merely said, “You’re welcome.” Maybe I’m reading too much into things, but all the jobs I’ve ever been offered they didn’t even bother replying. Also, I still haven’t heard back from HR. But it’s only been one day so I’m not going to freak out quite yet.
It’s just that about a month ago I had a phone interview and it lasted around 20 minutes and the interviewer seemed very much interested and told me I would be hearing back soon for a second interview. I never heard back and even after contacting her three or four times I heard zilch.
I don’t want the same to happen for this job because currently my employment is less than ideal and this job would pay me nearly double the rate I am making right now. I would also be doing something I really want to do and gain a lot more experience. Plus, they seem nicer.
But let’s focus on the positive since this is a post about being thankful. At least I have a job right now, and that I have had the interview. Now it’s the waiting game and my fingers are tightly crossed!

Please wish me luck! What do you think? Do you think I’ll get it? 🙂
